Near Chartres and Paris, discover our hot air balloon base in Normandy, in the Perche region. Slowly, you will rise several hundred meters in the air, from where you will be able to admire villages, meadows and monuments from a totally new angle. The take-off takes place in the natural park of the Perche, on the outskirts of the Villeray domain. From the exceptional buildings to the discovery of a calm and preserved countryside, you will discover the Perche as you have never seen it before.
The Domaine de Villeray, owned by the Eelsen family, is located in the charming 16th century village of Villeray. At the bottom of the village, on the banks of the Huisne, stands the Villeray mill, and then up a country road, one discovers the entrance to the Château de Villeray. In the heart of the Perche natural park, this majestic castle is nestled in a 30-hectare park filled with century-old trees. The Villeray estate has now become a hotel with numerous rooms and a SPA located in the former orangery. In an environment steeped in history, it is the ideal place for a hot air balloon flight. The castle stands in the middle of a green setting, and dominates the whole of a wooded park.
After admiring the Villeray estate and the town of Sablons sur Huisne, we will fly over a part of Normandy in a hot air balloon. Passing by Berd’huis or Saint-Hilaire-sur-Erre, we will admire the pretty little castle of Beaulieu. Above all, we will fly over the natural park of the Perche, a green setting only 2 hours from Paris, recognised as one of the jewels of French heritage. Today, it includes 88 communes between the Orne and Eure-et-Loir departments, and is characterised by a wide variety of natural environments: hedged hedgerows, meadows, forests and ponds. It offers exceptional wildlife and a remarkable built heritage, with its manor houses, superb farmhouses and charming villages.
Head for the Eure-et-Loir, and more precisely the commune of Nogent le Rotrou. Dominating the Huisne valley, the castle of the Counts of Perche is in a major strategic position at the crossroads of five valleys and three regions: Ile-de-France, Normandy and Maine. Still called the château Saint-Jean, it is an ancient fortress steeped in history. During the Hundred Years’ War, it was taken over and the keep was burnt down by the Englishman Salisbury. The castle underwent architectural changes during the Renaissance: the towers were raised and the body was transformed. Established as a dukedom, the castle was returned to Sully in 1624, who chose to convert it into a Louis XIII style dwelling. During the Revolution, it was transformed into a prison, and then began its rebirth in 1843. Now listed as a historical monument, it houses the Museum of the History of the Perche. A sumptuous monument to be seen from the sky.
Discover wonderful landscapes as you silently move through the skies to the rhythm of the wind. Rise little by little, with the breath of the burner, and admire breathtaking landscapes. Forest-covered hills, hedged lanes, rivers and ponds… A hot air balloon flight in the Perche is also a chance to see the wildlife and observe the Percheron horse, the emblematic animal of the Perche. All this while sharing the sky with egrets, lapwings, wagtails and purple herons. In total, more than 160 species of birds have been counted in the Perche. A quiet and privileged moment during which you will discover the Perche as you have never seen it before.
